Well, all those who didn't make Stephs' gig at Belle's last night, you missed a real treat! He looked great up there, with his control panel and computers and console and headphones, mixing and streaming an eclectic choice of music. It was slow, smoochy, sensual stuff, packed with emotions - he had been inspired to give us Love and Grief, both very powerful themes in ANY life, first or second. But to lighten the mood, odd things were going on all around. At one point Iris turned into a white clo…

I guess that by now we have all received Teesa's message that she needs to take a break from SL. I would like to make a few comments about that, and about this wonderful island community that we are all (in my view) privileged to be part of.
First, I think that most people have known what it is to need a respite from SL - I certainly have. Running two lives at once is not easy, and there are times when the person behind the avatar needs space to sort real-life things out and to keep grounded. So…

Just returned from a memorial ride for a cyclist who died(or was killed) last week here. over 50 riders turned out. The evening was perfect for riding, I was just wearing a t shirt and jeans. I think Gustavo would have been pleased. We finished his ride for him, rolled up to his house...
I saw them placing the
Ghost Bike on my ride in to work this morning.
I'm spilling a few drops for him now- off to sleep a bit there's another r…

News just in from the Beau Belle meteorological office.....it looks like the cold snap that has gripped Beau Belle is now passing, and the snow will be slowly melting over the next week or so.
However, please continue to be careful on the paths, it's still quite icy and slippery!!

It was wild! It was shocking! It was... great!
Yesterday, what started as a party to celebrate Bluebell’s birthday turned into something much more deliciously sinister. Of course, I can only give you hints – we don’t want the Linden police descending on our beautiful island. But the place was awash with alcohol (maybe even the RL kind, a shocking thought indeed). There were psychedelic drugs, handed around by a well-known BB resident who looked totally freaked out all evening. There were two ca…

This is maybe a bit off-topic, being nothing to do with Beau Belle, but I think it's still relevant to us all so I thought I'd post it anyway. We're just about to finish 2009 and start 2010, and so now is a good time to take stock of where we are, and were we're going. As a way of prompting thought on this, I have a list of questions I'm asking myself this year, many of which have come from the GTD guru David Allen, which I thought I'd share with everybody; I hope you find it useful for your own…

Had a bad computer week that ended well. Tuesday afternoon my backups to my external hard drive failed. I figured no problem, USB weirdness so unmounted the drive and plugged it back in.
My laptop then asked me if I wanted to initialize the drive (not a good thing, means something is really awry with the disc and or file system on it).
No worries really, figured I'd just reinit the drive, format it and run a full backup.
Not so simple- drive would not format at all. OK so something *physicall…

Cafe Coretto
The best seafood of my life last night
feeding feral cats just now
wandering the streets of Venice at
random with my beloved.
Watching random arguments between
lovers in the street.
A small child expertly navigating his razor scooter across the cobbled campo,
Being served our usual at a favorite cafe
without having to order.
2 weeks without a newspaper.
Life is good.
San Michele is on the agenda for today where we will leave cigarettes on Joseph Brodsky's grave. What a wonderful p…

My fellow Beau Bellers, I bring you grave news. Last night there was an attempt to sabotage tonight’s grand opening of Belle’s! While a number of people were innocently chatting (with a little mild mayhem taking place around the edges) a harmless looking briefcase exploded. The noise was tremendous, there were great gouts of black smoke, and then the cafe caught fire and burned fiercely. As if that wasn’t enough, after a number of smaller explosions a second major blast rocked the cafe – another…

Good morning!
Today is Thanksgiving Day!
Don't you use to celebrate it in your RL country? It doesn't matter, me neither. But we are on SL, and here we can celebrate whatever we want.
Thanksgiving is a time to stay with family members and friends, and to express gratitude in general.
You, Beau Belle Village people, are my family and friends on SL.
So, I'm here with you, expressing to the Universe (or God, or Supreme Force, or The Invisible, or Creator, or Thor, or Philip Linden, or...) all…

You all might wonder what I get up to here-
Today I got up around 0630, had some, well several espressi and a few cups of tea.
Sea was feeling under the weather so I went off alone for a few hours. Caught the #1 Vaporetto @ Arsenale to Rialto Mercato. There I spent a little time with fishmongers and friends; knife show and tell with a chef friend of mine who also made me a most spectacular monk fish soup.
Then back on the #1 to Arsenale. This boat was notable because it was leaky with many cm…

Hello all!!!
I've just scripted and installed a number of discreet snuggle balls around the new
Belle's coffee shop. You won't see them unless you're looking for them, so they don't clutter up the place with bright pink and blue balls like you see in the rest of Second Life. When you get within 3 metres, they appear in subtle transparent shades of grey and brown. They're dotted around, so see if you can find them, and try them out with your lovers and snuggle-pals!!!…

Beau Belle friends, residents and art lovers gathered last week for the launch of Susan Zunimoor’s art exhibition at the ruins above the Cohen Club.
A Canadian, Susan has been painting and showing her work for more than 20 years. Her art is primarily autobiographical paintings. ”The theme of this show is the concept of native country and cultural mix, as well as the multiple relationships that we maintain with the world around us in time and space.” Susan uses a variety of media to create her ow…
